Established in 1995, QingYuan Engineering Consultants(QYEC) has been a devoted and leading player in the extensive field of hydropower, water conservancy, irrigations, new renewable energy generation and water environment rehabilitations. QYEC offers a vast range and full phase professional consulting services, from initial planning to operational support, covering Engineering Design, Survey and Consulting of Hydropower, Assessment and Engineering Design of Water Resources, Design of New Renewable Energy Generation and Power Transmission and Distribution, Assessment of Environmental Impact and Water & Soil Conservation Planning, etc., with first and senior class qualifications and certifications.

QYEC believes that hydropower development is a delicately balanced technical art, an optimal balance in technical efficiency, financial return, environmental protection and social well-being. With such belief, QYEC has provided engineering services for more than a hundred hydropower projects, amounting to a total installed capacity over 9 GW in past decades, among which, 45 commissioned and 4 under construction, with a capacity sum of 5.2 GW and 1.0 GW respectively. Till now, the installed capacity designed ranges from 15MW to the largest 746 MW, Bala HEP; the head designed is from 7m to 1,175 meters, for Subagu HEP, which, till date, has long been marked as the highest rated head in Asian record; the dam height comes from 10m to the highest 150m, Xigu HEP; and the reservoir storage has 0.1m cum to the largest 278m cum.

In addition, on water conservancy and irrigations, QYEC has also accomplished three remarkable projects with two mid-sized reservoirs, a total length of 212km trunk channel and a total irrigation area of 170,000 mu; on renewable energy, QYEC has furnished 7 feasibility study reports, and been associated being engineering role in 5 EPC for solar power generation projects with a total installed capacity of 997MW (3 successfully commissioned in 2023 and 2 ongoing).

In recent years, QYEC has been actively extending its expertise in the international market covering more than 40 counties in South & Middle America, Africa, South Asia, Middle Asia and East Europe. Services include project identification & appraisal, feasibility study, EPC tendering and engineering, and related consulting. Typical cases before year 2016 are featured by its undertakings of the feasibility study for Santa Cruze HEP in Ecuador and Nam Seuang I & II HEPs in Laos; its association in completing the 488 MW EPC project of Sopladora Hydropower Station in Ecuador with Gezhouba Group. Subsequently, the company took a technology-led role in a joint venture with Sichuan Investment Group to co-invest in and develop the three-stage Marsyangdi River Hydropower Project in Nepal (with a total installed capacity of 600 MW), and was entrusted with the survey and design work. Construction of the first cascade power station commenced in early 2024.By 2025, the company had successively won bidsas both designer and EPC contractorfor the Malagas Hydropower Station in Tanzania and the Chino Hydropower Station in Nepal. Additionally, as a consulting firm, it signed contracts for the Balakot Hydropower Project in Pakistan, the Upper Tamor Hydropower Project in Nepal (285 MW) covering both consulting and design services, and a photovoltaic project design review in the Philippines.  

As of the end of 2025, the company had a total workforce of over 150 employees, including approximately 30 staff members at its international office in Kathmandu, Nepal.In terms of educational background:About 25% hold master’s degrees,Approximately 60% hold bachelor’s degrees.Regarding professional titles:around 15 employees (about 10%) are senior engineers at the professorial level,roughly 50% are senior engineers,and about 35% are engineers.
