The diversion tunnel project of the Bala Hydropower Station was successfully completed today, marking a major milestone in the project and a significant phase victory. This achievement lays a solid foundation for water storage this year and the subsequent operation of power generation.

The design work for the Bala Hydropower Station began in 2007, and after 13 years of effort, the main construction work commenced at the end of 2020. The diversion tunnel, which is 6.7 kilometers long and has a maximum excavation diameter of 14 meters, features an advanced hybrid lining design and is at the forefront of the hydropower industry in terms of scale. The tunnel successfully traversed the large FX1 fault zone and overcame complex geological conditions such as structural alteration and mud inrush, which is rare in the industry.
