Congratulations on the First Unit of Jianke Hydropower Station Successfully Connected to the Grid
The Jianke Hydropower Station is located in Songpan County, within the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. It is the first stage in a cascade development plan known as the "One Reservoir, Three Stages" scheme on the Maoergai River, serving as the "headwater reservoir" station. The project utilizes a hybrid development approach, featuring an earth-core rock-fill dam with a maximum height of 82.3 meters and a total reservoir capacity of 136.5 million cubic meters. The water diversion tunnel for this project stretches 19.859 kilometers in length. With an installed capacity of 3 units each rated at 82 MW, the power station is capable of generating an average of 898 million kilowatt-hours annually. Classified as a large (2) type II project, it plays a significant role in regional energy supply and sustainable development.
Qingyuan Company began the preliminary feasibility and feasibility study phases for the Jianke Hydropower Station in 2007. The power station successfully passed the unit start-up acceptance in May 2025, and on May 29, 2025, it smoothly completed the grid connection of its first generating unit. The commissioning of the Jianke Hydropower Station will further enhance the energy supply security capability in the Aba region, strengthen the resilience of power sources against risks, and effectively alleviate the pressure on electricity transmission. This milestone not only represents a significant achievement in Qingyuan Company's history but also marks an important step forward in boosting sustainable development and improving regional energy infrastructure.
